A Rockin' New Year!

It was a good first week back. Actually the kiddos didn't start until Wednesday so it was more of a half week. We did a lot of reviewing of not only routines and procedures but academics. In between, we did some fun games and activities. We did a New Year's Resolutions activity that I got from Dots-and-Spots. I couldn't locate the book so instead I showed a clip from this BrainPOP Jr. video about holidays. The New Year's part is at the very end and is only about a minute and a half long. Then we came up with 3 sentence starters that I wrote on the board for their resolutions. I modeled my resolution and showed them how to put the guitar together. They had to show me their resolution before being able to do the craft part. I was kind of surprised at how thoughtful their resolutions were. The guitars came out really cute and I hung them up on my bulletin board.

One of my kiddos asked me to buy Girl Scout cookies this week. It's that time of year again! This reminded me of the building I saw while visiting Savannah last week. It's the first Girl Scout's Headquarters which I of course had to take a pic of.

Well I hope everyone is enjoying getting back into routine. The early wake up time was hard but I think I have adjusted. I woke up at 6 on this Saturday morning! Have a great weekend!

Reading Boot Camp Round 2!

I had a good first day back at work today. It was a teacher work day so I got a lot done. I am so thankful for another day tomorrow before kids come back on Wednesday! I have been coming up with plans for such a short week and I am definitely going to be going over routines and procedures. I need them to get back into reading for extended periods of time so I am going to be using some stuff from my Reading Boot Camp Pack.  The kids loved the idea of it being called boot camp when I first did it at the beginning of the year. I think it will the perfect way to start back up. If you are interested just click on the title. It's 10% off through Wednesday!

Happy New Years and a Freebie!

I can't believe it's 2013 already! I have really enjoyed my time off and am slowly getting mentally ready to get back to work. Yesterday I spent the day in Savannah, GA and it was so much fun! We did some shopping, enjoyed looking at Victorian style homes and ate delicious food.

It was our last hurrah before getting back to the grind on Monday. While laying around this morning I decided to work on a sheet I am going to have my kids do when they come in Wednesday morning. (That's right- I have 2 whole work days before they come back! I am really glad because I need to get my report card grades done since I kind of slacked on that before break.) I got the idea for New Year's Bingo from Lisa at Fourth and Ten. I recreated hers because of the student population I have and I can't wait to use it! If you'd like to use mine click on the title to download. Hope everyone is enjoying getting back into routine. I know I need to get back to it or the junk food eating will continue! Anyone have tips for getting back into the swing of things?
